Hi all, my sweet girl (about 8 months old and super playful) is getting her spay next week and I'm super nervous for her but know it's necessary and want to make sure I'm taking care of her in a good way afterwards. I've asked my vet a bit but want to get some input from other people with a bunny at home, particularly around her activity.
My main question is how much it would be recommended to restrict her space until healed. She is only free roam when I'm home and her independent play area when I'm sleeping or out of the house is about 48 square feet I believe, including her cage/house thing that she sleeps in. Should I restrict this space further and should I take away her toys that she can jump on (hut/hide/play table)? I'm also worried about her jumping on top of her house -- she only seems to do it if she thinks I'm sleeping too long and wants to get my attention and I'm not really sure if there's anything I can do to stop this behavior other than maybe closing her in but I really don't feel ok doing that unless necessary (it is only about 2x4 feet I believe). Can I still let her out of her baby gate to explore the house or any more area under supervision as long as she's not jumping on anything? She is usually very active and zoomies/binkies very often but I'm not sure if this will change post spay or just in recovery or if she will even be feeling well enough to do this. She also likes to chill on the shelf in her house that she can access by jumping or using her ramp but I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with their bunny getting up to that sort of area post spay and I should take the shelf off or just take her house away altogether during healing. I can attach a picture if it would be helpful to visualize. I'm also wondering if I should plan to take off work the day after her appointment to keep an eye on her. Also any general tips for post spay care would be welcome and appreciated.
Thank you in advance to anyone who has read this and has any input regarding it! I can and will ask her vet as much as I can but wanted input from others who maybe have more home life experience with this as well if possible 💖
