Low budget equipment advice

I'm trying to get into filmmaking, however I have encountered the issue of equipment. I understand a phone is probably enough to record, but how do I prevent my audio from being messed up? Is there a specific microphone I should use? Is there any other equipment I may need? I'm on a low budget and am I'm hoping I can get some answers. Thanks.
