Recommendations for self-help books centered around autism, hopelessness, and poor self-esteem?
Since graduating college, everything has been an uphill battle. The job I ended up getting was not quite related to what I went to college for and I feel embarrassed about it because it’s pretty menial work. I also don’t feel any hope of finding a job that’s right for me because the economy has been discouraging.
Overtime, I’ve realized that I might not be as smart as I thought and have since doubted my intelligence and it has wreaked havoc on my self-esteem. This also further increases the discouragement and I no longer know what I’m good at or what skills I have that would give me a respectable career.
I also haven’t been able to make friends because of my introvert personality and autism. I live alone and only have my folks to share my concerns with. This also means that I haven’t had anyone to tell me otherwise and it’s just been a vicious cycle.
I want to go to therapy, but it’s expensive and I have a hard time trusting people sometimes.
Are there any books one can recommend for someone that deals with these kinds of issues? I’m a young adult male btw.
