Tattoo Advice
I haven’t started flying, haven’t even had a medical evaluation yet. I’m still in the research/planning stages. I’m moving states next summer, so I’m hoping to get started shortly after that.
I have like 40 tattoos, including on my neck and hands, so I’m not holding out hope to be an airline pilot. I’m thinking I have a better chance at carrying cargo or something further from the public view.
What I’m worried about is that I have a small tattoo of a weed leaf between my ankle and Achilles tendon. My brother thinks I need to get it covered up before I have my medical exam. He thinks they will document every tattoo on my body and that will automatically disqualify me. I’d prefer to just cover it up with makeup. I don’t smoke anymore, but I love the little guy. If covering it up during the exams will suffice, I’d much rather do that then black out the piece.
My brother is just starting out, just took his medical eval, but he doesn’t have any tattoos so it’s hard for me to put any value in what he’s saying. I figured that my way to have a better understanding of what I’m going to be facing is to turn to those with personal experience.
Am I being an idiot like he says? How likely is this going to be discovered? Is it even that big of a deal to have a tattoo of a weed leaf on my ankle? Any advice or experience is appreciated!
