Why do we even do this

I just have to vent after an awful shift today, which follows like 4 awful shifts I’ve had this past week: why do patients, family, and other healthcare team members always feel like they can treat nursing however they want? Why am I routinely being physically and verbally assaulted by patients? Why do doctors get to disrespect and disregard me, why do other members of the care team get to talk disrespectfully to me? I know I’m biased, but I am genuinely such a non confrontational person. How do I seem to continue ending up in confrontation literally all the time? I go out of my way for everybody at my job…. And I’m the punching bag. Why does it seem like everything is on the back of nurses yet were the most abused and under appreciated member of the team.
