Catcher mechanics in Super Mario Baseball.

Discussion

Hello, I’m new here but I wanted to share this mechanic that I know will never make it into any Mario game hahaha.

This mechanic consists of the following: if you play Super Mario Baseball in co-op or single-player, both players can choose roles.

One player can be the pitcher, and the other player can be the catcher. In the menu, you would get a warning that if you play in co-op, this mechanic must be enabled. If it’s your first time, it could explain how it works.

The catcher must catch the ball (depending on the size of the character, the glove can be smaller, larger, or medium-sized). You can give the pitcher a signal showing where you want the pitch to go. On screen, the glove and the ball’s direction or trajectory would be shown (you could choose whether you want it to be visible or not).

You could also move the character side to side in case you can’t catch the ball, so you can block the pitch with your body.

Well, from this point on I can’t think of any more ideas for this mechanic, which I believe no baseball game has ever implemented.
