Finally Seeking Help

Telling My Story

After years now of trich habits and a serious spiral in the last few months or so, I’m finally admitting that I need support for trich.>! I have pulled out almost all the eyelashes on my right eye in the past few weeks and!< I had a certified mental breakdown today since my lashes have always been my most-complimented and longtime personal favorite feature. I realized I need help. In the moment, I can’t stop pulling, but afterward, I’m caught up in extreme negative self talk and guilt.

I’ve been in therapy for several years to help with anxiety annd am medicated for it. At my appointment tomorrow, I’m going to tell my therapist about my compulsion. I’ve always been an “open book” about everything else, but once I kinda became aware of my pulling a couple months ago, I felt way too much shame to bring it up. Amid some serious sadness and panic today, reading through the stories in this sub has given me some courage to take the first steps to get help. I’m upgrading my fidget toys, buying some pretty falsies to hold my confidence over until my lashes come back, and seeking out accountability. Thank you for sharing your stories, and thanks for your encouragement and advice as I embark on mine.
