Do I need to pay this utility bill for the next month even tho we left Nov 30
Apartment Rental - Colorado We ask to renew a lease with an apartment before our lease ended, and they left the lease pending. Later in the month we had an awful leaking, it was fixed but we had sent prior request about our ceiling being fixed and reported a leak earlier in August. After the leak was fixed we went to our landlords in good faith about a patch in our ceiling that needed to be fixed. We were never given proper times of when it would be fixed but landlord verbally told us they’re canceling our lease. So, they canceled our lease 6 days after our lease ended. We are not on a written lease, so I understand we went month to month but we came in 9 days to give our letter saying we’re leaving Nov 30. They have never given any written notices about eviction or canceling our renewal. The lease only says if ‘During the term of the Rental Agreement between the Landlord and the Tenant, Landlord is authorized to bill Tenant for, and Tenant here by agrees to pay, a portion of the monthly bills for the Utilities for the property as stated above. Landlord shall give Tenant in 30 days written notice before requiring Tenant to commence paying for any change, including but not limited to change in billing entities, methodology, service charges, or other conditions in the manner or method of allocation of utility costs.’
They have not sent any notices. Sadly, they closed their office early on Friday so we will give the key on the first. Should we still pay the utilities for the next month even tho we are no longer there?
