Aita for supporting my friends eviction of my other friend?
So long story, I have a friend who had a rough couple of years. Broke up with his long term gf, had to move out of their house, she married someone else, he got Covid 3 times, lost his job, lost his car, and got evicted from his apartment.
One of our other friends took him in for a few months, he found a job he could bud too, but then said friend told him he had to leave (it was their parents property and they weren’t supposed to have anyone staying there), our other other friend took him in conditionally for a short time until he got back on his feet.
Apparently, he was eating their food, drinking their alcohol, not showering, etc. Friend told him he had to shape up or ship out. Anyway, Guy found a great job (60k) and his ex helped him buy a new car. He was doing well at work and everything seemed to be getting better.
Then his cat passed away and he didn’t handle it well. Despite my advice (that he needs to go to work and tell his boss what’s going on and let his boss decide if he should be there or not as he’s on probation) he called in sick for a couple days in a row because apparently his 14 yo cat was “everything” and he couldn’t “do anything without her”.
Now he’s back to stealing food, getting so drunk he’s pissing all over my friends kitchen and bathroom, refuses to get help (because ideally healthcare should be free) AKA he’s an anarchist, refuses to accept any responsibility etc.
His mom is open to him coming home and helping her (she’s recovering from cancer) but the little shite refuses to even talk to her.
I am disappointed and fed up and don’t understand why he is being this way?
I had a nervous breakdown earlier this year for similar reasons and reached out for psychiatric support and now have a team of social workers and a badly paying contract gig until I find something better. I quit smoking too.
Anyways I feel that he is not taking responsibility for himself and our support has turned into enablement. I thinking he should be evicted. Come what May.
Thoughts?
