My upstairs neighbor stomped at 2am AGAIN and now the office wants a formal complaint packet

So my upstairs neighbor has this habit of walking like he’s wearing cement boots at the worst hours possible. 2am, 4am, whatever. I tried being chill about it for months because I hate complaining, but last night was insane. It sounded like he was rearranging his entire living room.

I finally went to the office today and told them what’s going on. They handed me this “noise documentation packet” that’s like 6 pages long. I have to write timestamps, descriptions, whether the stomping was light, moderate, or severe, and attach any supporting audio.

I’m not FBI, I’m just tired.

And then the lady asked for my rental history and a copy of my credit report again because “records weren’t updated.” I’ve been rebuilding my credit for years after messing up in my early 20s, and I swear every apartment uses that as an excuse to make my life harder.

Like why does my credit file matter for reporting noise complaints?? I’m not trying to get a loan, I’m trying to sleep.

Is this normal?? Or is this just my apartment being annoying?
