How Much Would a Tribal Card Help With Admissions?
I was born into a Native American tribe and spent the first few years of my life living on a reservation. Due to some life circumstances I ended up in Child Protective Custody, got adopted, and moved away. Because of this I never got a tribal card. I’m in the process of applying for one now as an adult, but it looks like I might not get it in time for when I want to submit my law school applications.
Would it hurt my application to say that I’m native despite not having a tribal card? If I do get the card in time, would this even help my application at all?
I’m also planning on writing my diversity statement about my experiences growing up Native American. Would they just take my word for it despite not having this card?
