need help.

Hello I’m new here but I just wanted to come here and get some advice. I got my geuina pig, Doobie back in July of 2024, by august of that year i noticed doobie had a raised lump on his side, that he was also self inflicting wounds on himself causing him to bleed. I took him to the vet immediately after seeing this. The vet told me initially he would need surgery, but they suspected some kind of cyst. They prescribed him a pain medicine, and an oral antibiotic. Fast forward a couple months, his wound has grown from the middle of his side all the way to his upper back. The wounds have gotten more deep, and significant. He is still eating, drinking, and active. Since the extent it had gotten i decided to take him to the vet September of this year. This time, I was told that he no longer had a hard lump, only wounds on himself. They asked me if it “ever opened up” or “leaked out puss” but it never did, it only bled. So at that point they suspected it to be cancer, since it wasn’t opening up like a real infection and it was invading surrounding healthy tissue. Again, told me he needed surgery but other than that give him medicine and monitor. They also mentioned that this was not “terminal”. But, all in all i feel doobie has lived his life in pain. it’s gotten to the point i can’t handle him properly without it hurting him, every week or every other week his wound is reopening causing him to bleed. When i clean his cage i will see blood spots from his wound. No, his condition may not be terminal but it is painful. There’s no chance of improvement, or him ever healing. It’s only so hard because he’s still eating, drinking, and is active. But, as I said before his condition is painful, and there no chance of recovery. I’ve given it over a year with different meds, wound treatment, vet appointments, etc. And nothing is helping. I’m starting to think euthanasia may be the most humane option. I just can’t help but to tell myself “what if he’s not ready?” “what if it’s not time?” Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
