Axle hop question

So i was fuckin around with my 2010 GT and ripped it in first gear from a stop and my buddy started telling me that my rear end was having axle hop. what does this mean and what is that and is it common. road was slightly wet not too bad and i had traction control on because im not trying to spin out. what can i change to prevent that and what is axle hop.
