Just curious/a rant.
I’m writing a study page on Lord Apollo, and I’m sitting here writing and researching and from what I saw Apollo isn’t referred to as the god of the sun there, which isn’t exactly the biggest shocker to me since that title goes to Helios.
I’ve seen one person talk about how they felt like Helios was forgotten or something to that effect (it’s been a while since I read the post, so I could be misphrasing.)
But anyways, it had gotten me thinking. And the way that I’ve associated Apollo is with the Sun, yes, but not in the same way I associate Helios with the Sun (I greet them both in the day when I go outside, it’s habit now.)
But associate Apollo with sunLIGHT, and Helios as/with the Sun.
Same way with Artemis and Selene in a sense: Selene with the moon and Artemis with moonLIGHT.
I moreso associate Apollo and Artemis with the LIGHT that comes from the sun and moon, while I associate Selene and Helios with the Moon and Sun themselves.
I was curious what anyone else’s opinions/thoughts on this were, figured I’d rant since I was considering writing ‘sunlight’ in the (God of:) section on my notes.
Anyways, I hope everyone has a good day! :]
