A button is pausing

Hades 2 seems to think my A button on my xbox controller is my start button. Every time I hit A it pauses, unpauses, or does nothing. I can't remap anything to A, and I'm not having this problem in any other games, including Hades 1. I tried verifying game files, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my computer, and using a different controller on a different USB port with no changes. I have almost 200 hrs of muscle memory built up and save file progress that I don't want to delete. Does anyone have any idea what is going on or have any suggestions on how to fix this? I love this game too much to want to stop playing it.
