Why does my cat constantly scratch her ears then shake her head?

She doesn’t have fleas or anything i just don’t get why about every hour my cat violently scratches her ears and then shakes her head like a dog after a bath. She wakes me up all hours of the night doing this i just am curious as to why she might possibly be doing this.
