Executive needs to find a place to write
I'm an executive and previously published author. Last book I wrote in 2000, I was desperate and wrote about 200 pages as part of a writing team. I have found that a bright, sunny place is most productive for me to write. This cancels out writing in my basement.
I have a family of my wife and two adult children under 25. One lives at home, the other is back home during holidays. House is relatively small. I can write for 2 hours at a clip without my wife interrupting me.
I have a private office where I can conceivably come in on a weekend, but I'm sometimes interrupted by the landlord calling my security team.
I need to find about 3-4 days to write nonstop and preferably with no distractions.
I have several business meetings I plan to travel to in the next 3 months, including New Orleans, Las Vegas, and potentially a third location.
My dream was to take the Amtrak train to Las Vegas with a private room, which is $3000 but there is no Amtrak station in Vegas. So then it becomes complicated when I want something really easy.
My wife is not cool with me renting an Airbnb just to write. Not the expense, but what comes across as cold and unfeeling.
However I could easily leave 2 days early for the Vegas meetings and schedule a dinner with clients each day. I'm considering staying in an Executive Suite on the Las Vegas strip where there will be lots of sun through the windows.
Do any of you have surefire strategies for writing in quiet when your family doesn't want you to, essentially, write in quiet.
What do you all do for this? Do you have tips and tricks for finding a hotel with a very good desk? Or an AirBNB with a home office?
