If OSU wins the natty this year, will they have achieved the greatest stretch of wins in CFB history?
If Ohio State beats Indiana next weekend, they will have beating the following teams since November 2024:
No. 3 Penn State
No. 5. Indiana
No. 9 Tennessee
No. 5 Texas
No. 7 Notre Dame
No. 1. Texas
No. 17 Illinois
No. 15 Michigan
No. 2 Indiana
CFP Top 10 Opponent
CFP Top 5 Opponent (likely)
CFP Top 5 Opponent (likely)
I grant that Michigan 2024 is an eyesore in that stretch of games, but rivalry games are notably unpredictable. That being said, if they win the natty this year they would be on a 19 game win streak that would include wins against 12 Top-20 opponents, and 10 wins against top-10 opponents, probably 7 wins against top-5 opponents, not to mention securing two national championships in the process. If that were to happen, which I think any reasonable viewer would have to admit is at least 50% likely at this point, can anyone think of a more impressive stretch of football in college football history? If so, what would that stretch be?
