I actually really like Gege's more mature and nuanced portrayal of the Simurians and their interactions with Japan. I feel it really elevates the story and chooses to be realistic rather than play it safe. Here are two examples of what I mean.

**Cross Getting Shot:** I find that a lot of readers completely misinterpret the scene. From the posts I've made and have seen people completely pin the blame on a one side or person without considering the events leading up it (I'll probably make a post about this point specifically since I know most people won't even read this far in).

The thing that kicked off everything was the Simurians going off on their own to investigate a "Kaylan getting murdered by a Japanese person". The major issue with this is that none of them question why the humans would do this or if the Kaylans on their planet are the same as the one's on earth. **THEY were so confident in THEIR understanding of things that THEY choose to act on their own. This** later leads to them encountering a sorcerer, who they then attack and begin to surround. A lot of people either missed this part or ignore it entirely. We then see the "Gun Sorcerer" who see's Cross SEEMINGLY reach for his weapon and he then fires at him. A lot of people chalk this act up to prejudice but don't question what lead him to this point. Here's what I could gather upon rereading:

1. He already had a preestablished distrust towards the Simurians.
2. Just saw one defending a cursed spirit.
3. Was just attacked and surrounded by Simurians.

**TLDR:** **He was so confident in HIS own understanding of things that HE choose to act on HIS own.**

If the "Gun Sorcerer" was truly just some racist asshole or if that was the point of the scene then he would've already started firing at the Simurians when he saw one with a cursed spirit. Does this in any way justify his actions? NO. Does this justify the response of the Simurians? NO. I personally think that the message of this scene was how conflicts starts, the risks of being overconfident in your own understanding of things (being closed minded), and what happens when communication breaks down.

**Dabura:** The relationship between the Simurians and Dabura is a strange one. They treat him as their trump card in negotiations due to his strength, they hurl insults at him when he doesn't agree with the decisions because he's a "Deskunte Outsider", and just all around treat him as a tool ignoring the fact that Maru, Cross, and Dura were the reason he's even with them. They've practically become like the Deskunte, using their martial power to get what they want. However the humans aren't much better in this, we all know how Gojo was treated during JJK. And the only thing saving Yuji from the same fate is Usami (whose currently hospitalized) and his aloof nature that's kept him hidden. I also want to remind you that BOTH the Simurians and Japan had people who wanted to classify the other group as a threat and use force to get their way.

**Conclusion:** Simurians and Humans have both made mistakes at their attempts at coexistence. Both groups should be slandered for their failings/mistakes. The Simurians aren't perfect nor are they the victims SOME people paint them out to be. The humans aren't perfect nor are their attempts at maintaining peace always effective. Don't throw personal attacks at those who don't have the same opinion as you or don't side with the same group as you. Also remember that at the end of the day these are a fictional race in a shonen manga series, don't take things too personally.
