I don’t connect with my step child
I don’t connect well with my step child. He unfortunately doesn’t do much for me to adore. He has an obsession with slamming doors over and over again, (we put child locks on some doors but they unfortunately cant fit on all of them) and thats pretty much all there is to him, slamming doors, all day long. He is a bit delayed and is yet to start talking, and so he whines an exorbitant amount. He’s in his later toddler years and is not saying any words yet so i guess whining is his only way to communicate anything. But he whines every 10 mins. 24/7, 7 days a weeks. I say this to say, im more irritated of him than enjoying his company a-lot of the time. But that is all there is to him, whining and slamming doors. I tried to do activities with him, but his attention span is very very short and he just ends up whining, and doesn’t seem interested in interacting with or being affectionate towards other people or kids. Im around kids a-lot, i teach kids and all my close friends have children that i adore to bits and they adore me. The kids i teach often just come up to me and give me random hugs throughout the day, because im very affectionate and giddy with kids. But i get nothing from this kid. My friend also has an autistic daughter, who loves to play by herself and avoid eye contact with people, but she runs up to me whenever she sees me because she knows i am going to be good- eye contact less- time.
Help guys, im really trying.
