First scooter?

I’m thinking about adding a scooter to my garage for general errands and some casual fun. Never owned one before, and I kind of want a Vespa, but I think I should get something cheaper before jumping into the more expensive lineup. Used market is no good around me, and a Honda metropolitan seems pretty good and reliable for the price. Should I go china cheapo, or is the metro a good idea?
