Need help finding the best resources
Hello reddit !
I have been taking piano lessons for a little more than a year now and I recently lost my teacher (she took a temporary leave of a year or so). I am really sad as I was highly motivated by my piano lessons. I now find myself a bit anxious of losing the skills I gained and not progressing enough to my liking in the year to come. As piano teachers are a bit hard to come by in my area, I am looking for alternative ways to keep on learning by myself. And, ways to keep me motivated progressing on my own..
I would qualify my technical skills and my theory knowledge around a good 6th grade. Maybe higher in some areas. My teacher would allow myself to learn some harder pieces (6th to 10th grade if the tempo wasn’t too fast).
I would like to find the best resources for:
-theory learning: I am curious and I like to understand what I am playing. I wonder if there is a book that would cover everything from 6th-12th grade in a progressive way? I am a fast learner in that area. I would also enjoy online resources with tests/questions. (Bonus if available in french, but english would do)
-improving my reading skills. My biggest weekness (as my technical skills don’t fit the songs I am playing). I have a good musical ear, which helped me a lot so far playing songs, but I would rather try to get ´decent’ in that area. I would love to find some resources focused on tempo reading and some on sight reading.
-for the technical skills, what resources would you recommand? Books? Books with audio? An App?
