First Character, questions about Goliath Race

So I copped the Monsters of the Multiverse and Player Handbook D&D books. I would like to make a Goliath Barbarian for my first class. Do I use the Goliath race from the player handbook, or the Monsters of the Multiverse book? They both have different details for the Goliath so I was just wondering
