Am I Cooked? (25M immigrant edition)
So… I (25M) moved to the U.S. about 3 years ago, and I’ve come to a terrifying realization:
I might actually be socially allergic to new people.
I’m apparently “above average” (other people’s words, not my bathroom mirror hyping me up), but when it comes to approaching someone—especially women—my brain doesn’t even wait for conversation. It just immediately shuts down. Meanwhile, every dude on TikTok is out here casually collecting dates like daily login rewards.
I want to meet people, talk, flirt, maybe even prevent my bloodline from ending like a discontinued product line. But right now? My future family tree is looking like a single lonely stick.
How do I actually get better at talking to people?
How do I go from “quiet foreign guy who looks approachable but is actually panicking internally” to “normal functioning human man who can initiate a conversation without overheating”?
Any tips, hacks, scripts, or social-skills DLC are welcome.
And hey—if someone reading this post is interested, that would be even better. 😅
Because if nothing changes… I might truly be cooked.
