International Buyers Making Small Orders

Question

Hey all. I'm wondering if other sellers have the same problem I do.

Since I reopened my Canadian store to US sales (I closed them when the tariffs occurred to wait for everything to normalize a bit) I've gotten a lot of orders from American buyers for just a handful of pieces. We're talking 5 cents to at most a dollar of small, non-unique parts that would cost at least 15 dollars to ship with tariffs, often more.

I have manual invoicing only for US orders due to the tariffs, and there is a quote option as well. Sometimes I invoice the order, but usually I don't bother and inform the buyer what the shipping will be and ask if they'd like to cancel. 9 times out of 10 they don't respond, so I just cancel it because I don't want to get into a dispute over something so minor.

And I expect these buyers (many are new) didn't realize I was Canadian or Bricklink selected my store for some reason as part of a larger order. I wonder if there's a setting I'm missing. This shipping option doesn't show estimated fees as I'd like to keep quote requests open (It's my understanding they're mutually exclusive).

I don't like having these canceled orders in my stats, is there anything I should be doing differently? How do you guys handle it?

Thanks, all the best.
