Student (laptop broke right before finals) $2-3000 CAD
- Total budget:
$2000-3000 CAD (with taxes)
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
No
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
I don't need a 2-in-1 or anything. I just want something that's all around good. Decent battery, reliable, etc.
- How important is weight and thinness to you?
Somewhat. I'll carry it with me nearly every day.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Not really. Being able to do some gaming might be nice, but definitely just a bonus.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
No idea, I just like things like HSR, genshin, stardew Valley, etc.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Not really.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I've had 2 surface pros and they both broke way sooner then they should've. Especially because I took extremely good care of them. It's made me despise Microsoft and especially surfaces.
I'm open to a mac, but I don't currently have any Apple devices, so I wouldn't benefit from their "ecosystem"
I'd qualify for student discounts. But I'm pretty sure $3000 would be the limit with taxes. The only reason I might be able to afford this is if I might be able to get a tech grant.
