First hetero relationship in years

DISCUSSION

Okay so the last few "men" I (NB24) dated later came out as transfemme. Most people I've dated since were women or non-binary. I've been dating a cis, demi/"heteroflexible" man for a few months now, and I'm noticing how obvious it is that he is, in fact, the first proper cis man I've dated since I was 16.

Im so painfully aware suddenly of his cishet-ness and all the macho stuff he says. I'm just not used to it. Certain things just squick me out even when they're relatively harmless (ie. REALLY proud of having a big dick and being super tall, especially loves hearing how he's bigger than other people, just generally not having any critical thinking around misogyny in media, initially sex felt very visual/performative). He's really receptive to when I say something bothers me, even when we both know it's not a bad thing, he will insist on "taking accountability." so my issue isn't with him, he's a phenomenal boyfriend I adore.

I'm not really looking for a solution here, so much as literally any thoughts anyone has in response to this, just to help me verbally process the situation and how I feel. I love him, I don't think I would end the relationship just bc he grew up cishet, I don't think it's that big of a deal, but I feel like I'm constantly being slapped in the face with it after years of being so used to exclusively queer relationships. I don't know how to process this stuff bothering me so much
