Does anyone else feel the same way?
My mom is a great cook and baker and went to culinary school before she was married and had kids. My Dad is a pretty good cook himself. My sister and I would have to help in the kitchen and my mom would make most things by hand and we were 75% an ingredient only household.
Because of my upbringing, I am pretty intuitive in the kitchen and know how to follow a recipe.
With that being said, I kind of hate knowing how to make things. Oh I have sugar, butter, eggs, flour etc, I can make cookies! I have sugar, peanut butter, cocoa powder, and oats? I can make no bake cookies. Tonight I made homemade mac and cheese out of what I had.
Being able to do this is awesome, but.... it is not conducive to weight loss or eating healthy. I get an idea in my head and I pretty much know how to make it. I have too much power for my own good. It is a double edge sword!
Just had to share my gripe with myself and to see if anyone else feels the same.
