It started with a locked safe, a hacked account, and a conspiracy. Proxies Wise and Belle guided agents against street thugs and Ethereals into tangling with cultists. They made many friends and connections from the Cunning Hares all the way up to Section 6 to help battle the threat of the Hollows and uncover truths. Some confessions weren’t easy though as Zhu Yuan, a trusted and respected PubSec officer learned people she called friends had been criminals all along. A conflict of personal connection and her moral compass.

No one said a burned bridge couldn’t be rebuilt and that took time, but Zhu Yuan would eventually come back around to the siblings. Though New Eridu’s constant stream of threats didn’t let heroes rest on laurels. The Exaltists retreated to Waifei Peninsula and the Proxies needed to learn new skills to combat this new threat. So they trained with Yixuan Shifu to better harness their ability to manipulate ether.

It ended with a betrayal and a revelation that carried them further on a path. Eventually they did succeed but Carole Arna, their teacher, had been lost to whatever scheme the ‘Creator’ had wrought. Vengeance became justice as this being with godlike aspirations was vanquished by yet another combined effort. Without the grand intelligence to guide the Hollows to expand the threat began to shrink. The world had been pulled from the brink of apocalypse and there could be a bright, Hollow-less future ahead.

Wise and Zhu Yuan grew closer over time and friendship turned into a little more. Who knew a badass cop could fall for some needy video store owner? “Dinner with your folks wasn’t bad,” Wise chuckled. “You were so nervous for no reason.” He liked to tease her, make the poster girl for Janus Quarter branch blush. “Manag-…er, I mean, Wise,” Zhu Yuan mumbled. “I’m glad they adore you but I’m worried. Worried that might find out about what we do in private.” It was an embarrassing fact but the clean couple image they showed to the world was a facade.
