LF III 420. Getting thermal shutdowns suddenly but then they stop ? Is it going bad?

7800x3d Asus Aorus elite x670 e-a motherboard

Never had any issues until today . I was loading up a game and pc shut down suddenly. Wouldn’t restart but lights on motherboard . I finally get bios to load and tromp was hitting 89.. then I saw shutdown . Kept on trying to reboot and kept shutting off . Finally got back into PC and temps normal

Been building pcs for years now and have had coolers fail . But they failed and no coming back .but now seems to be working properly ?

Any ideas what could be happening?
