New Panasonic DP-UB820 has tons of visual noise. Is this normal?
My husband has been collecting Blu-Rays for a few years and we've been watching them on a PS4 we got from my kid a few years ago when I bought them a PS5. For my husband's birthday, I got him several criterion collection films that came with both regular and 4k blu-ray, and we decided to get a UB820 so we could watch them. We hooked it up a few days ago, and it had really bad visual noise dancing around the screen. I did some research and determined that it might be the HDMI cable we used, so today I got an 8k HDMI 2.1 cable. We plugged it in and that didn't really seem to help. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and has any ideas how to fix it. We have adjusted some settings and it has gotten better, but it is still noticeable and distracting. Especially in large areas of lighter colors (darker than white, but pale, like a yellow wall or a cloudy grey sky)
One issue may be our TV - it's a Samsung 43" Crystal UHD CU7000, which I understand is a pretty entry level 4k TV, (and it apparently doesn't even support HDMI 2.1, so that was a wasted effort...) But we've been watching some of these same movies on regular Blu-ray on a 10-year-old playstation on the same TV and not had any issues.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had noticed a similar issue with this machine or had tried this combination of equipment and had it work (or not work). Any tips or tricks? I trust you all! Thanks.
