2024 M440i Gran Coupe – Do I need G26 LCI mirror caps or G82 mirror caps? TAKD Carbon is telling me I need an “upgrade”

Hey everyone,
I’m confused about mirror cap fitment for my car and want to make sure I’m not getting upsold.

My car:

• 2024 BMW M440i Gran Coupe
• Chassis: G26
• Looks like I have the newer LCI-style mirrors (not the old pre-LCI ones)

I’m buying carbon fiber mirror caps from TAKD Carbon, but the rep is telling me I need to “upgrade” to the G82-style mirror caps, saying the G26 M440i switched to M-style mirrors mid–cycle. They’re trying to charge me ~$100 extra for the G82 ones.

I’m unsure if that’s actually true or if they’re just upselling me.

My questions:

1. For a 2024 G26 M440i Gran Coupe with LCI mirrors, do I actually need G82 mirror caps?
2. Do the 2021–2024 G26/G22/G23 LCI-style mirror caps fit my car, or does the G82 design fit better?
3. Is TAKD Carbon trustworthy about fitment or are they just pushing the more expensive option?
