WHV Visa first month traveling

Hi! I'm moving to Australia on the working holiday visa this February! I'm landing in Sydney and plan to stay there for a week or so before adventuring around the east coast, visiting the major cities before deciding what city to settle in. I plan to do this for about a month and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about how to go about this! Or should I just choose a city and immediately start looking for an apt/job? Also if I do choose the latter, would it be recommended to rent a car? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
