Why do people abuse their exes after a breakup? Is that really love?
Yesterday, I was at a house party with a bunch of friends. One of my friends recently had a breakup, so after all the fun, the usual relationship-and-breakup discussion started.
Everyone began sharing their stories and, honestly, it turned into a full-on Venting session. “He did this to me,” “She did that to me,” And the abuses… nonstop.
There was this one guy not my friend directly, but a friend of a friend who went off about his ex. He said he loved her so much, did everything for her, blah blah. So I asked him directly:
If ou really loved her so much, why are you abusing her like this now?
I get that heartbreak hurts. I get that anger comes out. But I've never understood this need to insult someone you once claimed to love. Why curse them? Why degrade someone who once mattered so much?
Is this what we call love?
Because to me, if there was any real love… then letting them go peacefully, wishing them happiness, and moving forward with maturity should come naturally.
Agar pyaar tha toh jane do na unhe… khushi-khushi, unke liye dua karke. Not by turning them into a punching bag for our emotions.
I don’t know… maybe I’m too idealistic. But I genuinely feel breakups don’t need to make us bitter. People grow apart that doesn’t make them evil.
