Guys please don’t call unknown people for referral. At least message them in LinkedIn or at the very least WhatsApp & ask permission.

Career Advice

Getting calls from unknown numbers & suddenly saying “bro I got number from your resume or LinkedIn or whatever”. At least try to ping someone first before calling & let them agree or give you permission.

I always try to responsive on LinkedIn even if I can’t refer because of whatever reason I would say it& if I can then I would advise them to make changes in resume or projects etc., & get back to me. In the worst case I’ll ask them to contact HRs I know who would help out genuine profiles.

I would not want any job seeker to feel their professional way of seeking help shouldn’t go unnoticed & if people are active on LinkedIn I would advise them to do the same even politely decline but don’t leave on read.

Even if someone pings me on WhatsApp saying “I got the contact from so & so person whom you know & want you to refer for this job position” it’s actually not so bad although I would ask them to first ping in LinkedIn first.

I myself had reached out to many on LinkedIn & they personally sent me their WhatsApp/contact details & to send details there as they might find it convenient during the days I was applying for job. I even met good mentors & friends that way about career advice.

But getting more & more calls from unknown numbers & saying I saw your number somewhere& called there makes it look creepy. Please 🙏🏽 avoid that.
