My Wife's TikTok went super viral and it may be our last shot to save our home.
I don’t really know who else to tell this to, and I’m not trying to advertise anything, I just need to get this off my chest because it feels unreal and overwhelming.
My wife made a simple TikTok about our family having a bunch of November birthdays. At Thanksgiving we had this “calendar cake” where everyone with a November birthday moved their candle to their date and blew it out. It was just a sweet little family moment we thought maybe a few people would like.
And somehow… it blew up. Not like in the thousans but I mean it has almost 24 million views and nearly 3 million likes. We can’t wrap our heads around it. We keep refreshing the page like, Is this real?
She makes TikToks just for fun and we could never imagine having a video that reached so many people.
The crazy part is that TikTok only lets you monetize once you hit 10,000 followers, and she’s getting close, which feels surreal because we never set out to do this. But it could genuinely change our lives right now.
We’ve been drowning financially. My wife is a teacher, and I'm graduating with my bachelor’s this spring so I can become a teacher too. I went back to school after breaking my back working as a machinist in the oil and gas industry. Ever since that injury, we’ve been playing financial catch-up, and we’re now at the point where we’re trying to save our house from foreclosure.
And now this random, wholesome little family video has become this tiny spark of hope we didn’t expect. Something that wasn’t tragic or traumatic or dramatic, just candles on a cake.
I’m not asking for anyone to do anything. I just needed to say this somewhere. We are exhausted, scared, and also ridiculously hopeful in a way we didn’t expect to feel again.
If this works out and she hits the numbers to monetize, it might literally help us keep our home. If it doesn’t, well… at least the internet got to see a sweet moment from our family.
I don’t know. I just needed to let it all out.
