Is it safe to walk in Shinjuku at night?

My friend and I (both women in our 20s) are planning to go shopping at Don Quijote and visit some arcades for claw machines at night after our daytime plans. We’ll probably be walking around Shinjuku after 11 PM. I know Kabukicho can feel unsafe, so we plan to avoid that area but how are the other parts of Shinjuku late at night? There seem to be several Don Quijote stores and arcades nearby, so I’m wondering which areas are generally okay to walk around.

Also, for the claw machines: can we use Apple Pay or Apple Pay Suica to pay, or do most machines only accept coins?
