Am I Overreacting
Hello! I just wanted to get some advice and see if I’m overreacting. I’ve asked people in my personal life, but they’re not in this industry, so I figured I’d ask here. I’ve worked as a CRC for almost two years and started at a new company about five months ago. Everything was going well. It’s a small site with about a dozen studies and two CRCs: me and my site lead. I was getting the hang of things and feeling good in my role. Recently, my site lead went out on maternity leave, and I’m now the primary coordinator for all studies at the site. (No extra pay of course) They hired her replacement about two weeks before she left. At the same time, leadership decided to start recruiting heavily for one particular study. Normally that would be fine, but I’m currently the only one delegated to anything at the site. I’m seeing around 2–3 consents/enrollments a day on top of regular study visits. By the time I finish patient visits and labs, it’s usually 4:00 PM. A few times a week I have to stay later than that and the labs don’t get picked up because the building gets locked past 5pm and UPS can’t come in. But I don’t have time to do labs any earlier because I’m seeing patients. I do try to go home at 4:00pm since the company doesn’t pay overtime. This means I don’t have time for data entry, query responses, IP accountability/calculations, etc. As a result, I feel like I’m dropping the ball left and right, and ruining the integrity of these studies. I don’t know what else to do. I reached out to leadership, and they said they’ll work on getting me more help, but all of our sites are severely short-staffed, and I’m honestly not a priority right now. I hate feeling like I’m doing a bad job. Part of me feels like I’m being dramatic and that I should just tough it out, which is why I’m making this post.
