The Economist knows about....

NSFWSpoiler

The Economist knows about the old story of the traveler who walked into a village hotel and placed a 100-euro bill on the counter.

He said he wanted to check the room first. The hotel owner agreed, took the bill, and the traveler walked upstairs.

In the moment the traveler disappeared, the bill started moving through the whole village!

The hotel owner ran to the butcher and paid his debt.
The butcher took the same 100 euros to the farmer.
The farmer used it to pay the mechanic for repairs.
The mechanic went to the tavern and cleared her tab.
The tavern owner walked back to the hotel and paid what she owed.

Then the traveler came back downstairs!
He didn’t like the room and picked up his 100 euros and left.

The next chapter is ours to write.
The impact will show itself in time —
a reminder that history echoes itself,
just never under the same conditions.

P.S. Do you hear the theory underneath, and could guess it?
