AITA for ruining someone’s beach experience?

This literally just happened a few hours ago and me and my friends need opinions.

So me and my friend group (22/24 year olds) decided to head to the beach today, none of us had work and it was so hot and sunny where we are that it was the perfect day for it.

The beach we go to has a spot slightly further up that we use often as we smoke and vape and like to keep it away from huge crowds of people.

The beach was relatively empty so imagine our shock when 4 people in a group decided to park their beach equipment a few feet away from us. There were so many other spots they could have picked that wasn’t anywhere close to us and they still picked right next to us.

There isn’t really a rule saying they can’t do this so we didn’t feel comfortable asking them to move.

We decided that we would continue to smoke and enjoy the beach so had some louder noises and just overall fun atmosphere. It’s not like we where yelling and screaming, we where just laughing and drinking and having a fun time.

I could tell that the four people where becoming uncomfortable and when we got up to leave they told us we where assholes who treat other beach growers like trash.

AITA?
