AITA for avoiding my friends and not saying anything because they made me third wheel?

I am going to simplify my response and theirs and highlight the important parts only.

This was regarding third wheeling. Like borderline making out in a public restaurant while I’m trying to eat my food. But I didn’t even mention that. Also note that they kept saying “sorry if you feel like you’re third wheeling” repeatedly during the plans and I dodged it every time to avoid conflict. I entirely kept my distance from them when we went shopping. When my other friend was there for a short time, I clung to her. At the house, I was on my phone or watching TV on the same couch with them while they were constantly flirting. I couldn’t leave because we took their car and I was three hours away from home. Otherwise I would’ve left.

I said “You noticed I felt this way. Now that plans are over, I’m more comfortable telling you why. So this is how I feel, this is why I feel it. Your feelings and intense affection are also valid to me. So, I’m letting you know that my solution is to do group plans that are more inclusive” It was just what I thought to be a respectful, sugar coated INFORMATIVE message.

I’m only going to highlight the parts I think are unfair to me. (it makes up 90% of their response anyways)

Their response: “it hurt that you avoided us. that’s what made us feel awkward and guilty. my feelings are hurt that you didnt tell me the truth about how you felt and my feelings are hurt that you've decided you dont wanna hang out with us before talking to me about it and giving us a chance to be better. you could literally tell us to get a room and we wouldn't be offended. idek what to say rn im still hurt. you talking to me like its a professional email makes it worse. i feel like im emailing back my boss that is scolding me especially since you told me you do so when you're mad. i don’t want you to be mad at me again so idk what to do”

(Ive ALWAYS used proper punctuation when talking about ANY type of real feelings, they should know this, we’ve been friends for over 10 years)

This response is why I wasn’t comfortable saying anything in the moment. If they can’t handle an informative message, could you imagine if I told them to “tone it down” on the flirting?? Am I the problem here that they’re making me to be?
