Thinkpad X390 Keyboard replacements and quality.

Review / Opinion

I bought an old X390 about a year ago. I once cleaned the original with a slightly damp microfiber; it broke, so I replaced it with one from eBay. It looked original, but was backlit. The typing felt mushy compared to the original, which wasn't backlit. I cleaned the second with an even BARELY damp microfiber, and the same thing, half the keys stopped working. I mean, HARDLY damp at all, like if wrung it out to death, there would be no water. So now I bought a non-backlit keyboard, and omg the keys feel soooo nice. They have a beautiful texture, and the weight of the keys feels amazing, definitely worth having no backlight. It was the cheapest option on Amazon too, 30$ CDN, compared to the second replacement, which was 50$. Now I'm so scared that I only use 70% rubbing alcohol to clean the keyboard. I thought these keyboards were supposed to have drain ports and be super reliable?
