It took me several watches to realize what a thankless role Fiona was in the first few seasons

I've never agreed with viewers who found Gabrielle Anwar to be a weak actress (she's not phenomenal or anything, but I don't think anyone on that show was, so I think she was held to a double standard) and I actually think she had good comedic instincts, but it didn't really hit me until my current re-watch what a thankless role Fiona is. For the first few seasons, she's basically only there to be the resident sexpot, nag Michael about speaking about their relationship, and to make trite quips about how excited she is by the prospect of shooting someone or blowing up something. She doesn't really get any depth until the episode where the IRA guy is looking for her, and that's not until the 3rd season. It's actually super disappointing.
