Anyone Else thinks the Harry Potter book is more preferable than the films?

I recently read the first three Harry potter books with my girlfriends kid. I found it to be very predictable with almost nothing good about the twists.

Now I saw the films in the theater with my wife and sure they was formuslavic but even so I couldn’t figure out the mystery until they were revealed to us.

SO were the books do u think written this way because they were for younger audiences, or just bad? Do they get better in books four fix six seven (6-7!) or should I just rewatch the films together instead?
