Status: "Disconnected" Wth is that supposed to mean? That your just fucking wasting my time?

I am getting so fucking sick of this, I just want to back up my fucking Ipad, I've sat here on my ass for almost three fucking hours then I look and see the tiny little information button, clicking on it it tells me the status is "disconnected" Well fucking thanks for not even MENTIONING THAT EARLIER. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN "Disconnected?" WELL HOW T H VEH HELL DO I RECONNECT
