Syncing audio and video workflow

So I'm just about to start editing my second short film on premiere. This is the first time I've recorded audio separately, so I'm unfamiliar with the syncing workflow. I know how to sync them, but the question is when. I'd think I'd want to do it before I start clipping up my videos so that I don't have to sync the audio to each small clip once I have a picture lock.

I figured I'd put all my videos on a timeline and link all the audio tracks there. But when I make a rough cut timeline, is there a way to bring over both video and audio files at the same time besides just copy pasting it from the first timeline?

In other words, when I drag a video clip from the project panel into a timeline or open a video in the source panel and select an in and out point, can I get the linked audio file to drag with it?

Or, if there's a better way to be doing all this, I'm welcome to that too.
