Am I overreacting?

⚖️ legal/civil

Hello!

My wife and I rescued a kitten we found abandoned outside our home. (No mom or other kittens in sight and was starving)

We took it in and kept it separate from our other cats. We brought in fecal for tests and got all the shots etc.

However we specifically asked the vet when we could introduce the new kitten due to worries about vaccinations/fleas/parasites. They said wait at lease 24 hours after the flea treatment and we can introduce them.

We did this, everything was going well. Then 2 days later (after we waited and then introduced the cats) the vet called and said we need to come in and buy extra strength dewormer for not only the kitten but the other 2 cats as well since we allowed them to all say hi and inspect each other's areas. They acted like it was all our fault.

We are pretty irate but wanted a second opinion before I explore next steps... We specifically asked if it was safe to introduce them, which they said yes it was fine, but then tried to blame us and we had to pay for extra medicine and make our cats uncomfortable by forcing the new medicine down. Which let me tell you, is not a fun time.

Plan to potentially dispute the credit card charges, switch vets, write a terrible review, and maybe even report them to the vet board of ethics.
