Intact son concerns
My son is 6 yrs old and has not been circumcised. For the past couple years he showers with my husband in the evenings and I’m not really a part of the nightly routine (I shower w our daughter).
Tonight was a rare night I actually bathed him in the tub and I started to pull his foreskin back. NOT all the way down, I’m not being forceful whatsoever. I just attempted to gently pull the skin back the teeniest amount just to expose the tippiest top of the head. And I think it’s very sensitive and he DID not want me to pull the skin back whatsoever.
At his Ped appt for his 6 year wellness check she said he should be able to pull the skin back at least a tiny bit and to wash under there and rinse the soap off real good.
But it seems too sensitive still to do any of that. He doesn’t want to expose the penis WHATSOEVER
Is that ok at this point? At 6 years old? What I read about it online is that around 7-10 he should be able to pull the skin back all the way. I’m not trying to rush the process at all, but his Dr was saying he should be able to pull it back a little bit.
Should I just leave it alone and not worry about it whatsoever? And it’ll work itself out? That would obviously be his preference.
It’s such a sensitive thing, I don’t want to traumatize him, but then I don’t want him to wind up being hypersensitive because he was scared to touch it ever either. So I just don’t know the best way to proceed.
