Can we claim insurance for this?

I already submitted documents for reimbursement but just curious, do you think we can claim insurance for this situation?

During our trip to Japan, we were advised by the airline that we can rebook our flight due to a possible flight disruption because of an incoming typhoon. Because we were with kids and senior parents we decided to accept the rebooking so we ended up having to stay an extra day.

Just wondering if we can have any reimbursement because of this? The flight was not cancelled I think but we were scared to continue so we accepted the rebooking that was offered.
