This dude confuses me

Basically this dude I like I usually talk to almost every night all night, like we are up until usually at least 1 am talking most nights.

About a week ago there was a situation where he refused to go to sleep before me and I asked why and he basically wouldn't give me a reason and said it was private but good reasons for him to know, that same night he actually asked me if I was single and I am so I told him that. After that night me and him haven't really talked much, and when we do talk it isn't long conversations that last all night like before and things just feel different and I'm not quite sure why. I wanna message him but I don't wanna be annoying

About maybe a month ago something similar happened where there was just a week we barely talked and after that week we talked how we did before so I'm not sure if thats just happening again? Whys that happening again though and why did that happen a month ago?

I'm just confused and think I need other people's opinions on this situation lol if you have any questions feel free to ask
